The Unit Aide supports clinical operations by maintaining a sanitary, organized, safe, and efficient environment. This role contributes directly to patient safety and team productivity by ensuring equipment, supplies, and utility items are clean, functional, properly stocked, and ready for use.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Basic computer knowledge and data-entry skills.
  • Ability to read, write, and follow simple written and verbal instructions.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Courteous and professional customer service and communication skills.
  • Reliable, safety-focused work habits and a commitment to quality, cleanliness, and patient safety.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Willingness and ability to stand, walk, bend, push, pull, and transport equipment for extended periods as required by the role.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain work areas in a safe, clean, and organized condition while following infection prevention and hospital safety protocols, including proper use of PPE.
  • Uphold patient privacy, confidentiality, and ethical care standards.
  • Respond promptly and professionally to inquiries and service requests from patient care areas.
  • Work collaboratively with Equipment Center leadership, team members, clinical staff, and support services.
  • Transport equipment, carts, and supplies throughout the hospital using established safe handling practices.
  • Clean, disinfect, and return equipment to designated locations according to infection prevention guidelines.
  • Accurately document equipment tracking and cleaning activities.
  • Identify malfunctioning equipment, remove it from service, and coordinate repairs with Biomedical Engineering.
  • Receive, stock, and replenish supplies to maintain par levels.
  • Assist with equipment retrieval, dispatching, code cart management, and other Equipment Center operations as assigned.
