The Operating Engineer will have a strong focus on operating, maintaining, troubleshooting and repairing facility equipment on all systems. Individuals are expected to demonstrate technical expertise in one craft area (Electrical, HVAC, Piping/Plumbing, Central Utility Plant Operations) and be multi-skilled in others in order to successfully complete daily/weekly work assignments.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent required
3–5 years of experience in building maintenance, facilities management, or engineering
Strong knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems
Ability to troubleshoot and repair complex building system issues efficiently.
Accurate documentation of maintenance activities, inspections, and repairs.
Capability to lift heavy equipment, climb ladders, and work in confined spaces
Effective verbal and written skills for coordinating with tenants, contractors, and management
Knowledge of workplace safety practices, OSHA regulations, and emergency response procedure
Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Nice To Haves

associate’s or technical degree in building systems, engineering, or related field preferred
experience with building automation systems preferred

Responsibilities

Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical, HVAC, and other building systems to ensure safe and efficient operation
Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance of building equipment and systems
Respond promptly to service requests, emergencies, and system malfunctions to minimize downtime and disruption
Monitor and adjust building automation systems, including temperature, lighting, and energy management controls
Coordinate with contractors, vendors, and service providers for repairs, installations, and inspections
Maintain accurate maintenance logs, records of repairs, and compliance documentation
Ensure all building systems comply with safety codes, regulatory requirements, and environmental standards
Assist with renovation, construction, or retrofit projects as needed
Monitor building security systems, elevators, fire alarms, and other safety equipment
Support sustainability initiatives, energy conservation, and cost-saving measures across building operations
