About The Position

The Union Medical Assistant (Bilingual)/OGCC provides support in the clinical and office functions of the department. The position involves direct patient contact, maintaining office systems, assisting with clinical functions and procedures, and providing clerical support to staff. The Medical Assistant also interprets for non-English-speaking patients using a language level and dialect appropriate to the identified patient population, and performs other job-related duties as required.

Requirements

• High school graduate.
• Completed certification as a Medical Assistant.
• Current CPR certification.
• 3–5 years of experience in an administrative or medical setting.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Computer competency and strong typing skills.
• Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
• Demonstrated maturity in working with all patient populations.
• Proficiency in English.
• Flexibility in hours for possible weekend and evening work.
• Bilingual ability required.

Nice To Haves

• Spanish-language proficiency preferred.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate competency, individually and as part of the multidisciplinary team, in clinical care and assessment of all patient populations.
• Assist with direct patient care, demonstrating maturity and discretion when working with all patient populations.
• Provide clinical support to patients and staff.
• Provide office support, including typing, scheduling, and processing forms.
• Monitor clinical equipment and supplies.
• Protect and preserve patient confidentiality rights.
• Interpret for non-English-speaking patients using a language level and dialect specific to the patient population.
• Perform other job-related duties as requested by the supervisor.
