About The Position

The Union Custodial Technician maintains a clean, safe, and welcoming Arkansas Union for students, staff, tenants, and visitors. They perform daily cleaning, support facility operations, and deliver excellent customer service to ensure the building is operational, comfortable, and inviting. This role requires regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance, as well as the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.

Requirements

  • Ability to effectively communicate to be able to perform job duties.
  • Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to perform repetitive manual work.
  • Ability to follow oral and/or written instructions.
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks and to prioritize assignments.
  • Ability to work independently without close supervision.
  • Ability to use cleansers and other agents to clean floors and furniture.
  • Ability to use housekeeping cleaning supplies and equipment.
  • Ability to work in a large, high-traffic public building, around large crowds.
  • Ability to communicate professionally with students, teachers, visitors, and staff.
  • Proof of legal authority to work in the United States on the first day of employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Formal education equivalent of a high school diploma.
  • Experience in the custodial field.
  • Experience working in an environment where young adults are present.

Responsibilities

  • Perform daily cleaning tasks including sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, buffing, waxing, dust mopping, and vacuuming.
  • Disinfect high-touch surfaces and maintain carpets, windows, walls, and fixtures.
  • Handle spill response and waste disposal, including sanitizing containers.
  • Operate and maintain custodial equipment and manage custodial supplies.
  • Respond to work requests and facility issues.
  • Assist with room resets and ensure building readiness.
  • Conduct inspections of the facility.
  • Communicate via work orders and email.
  • Handle locking and unlocking of areas as needed.
  • Follow safety protocols for chemicals and biohazards.
  • Remain flexible and dependable during events, weather, or staffing shortages.
  • Create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.
