About The Position

Waste Connections is looking for a safety-minded Union CDL Recycle Route Driver to join our team in Vancouver, WA. The shift is Monday-Friday, with occasional Saturdays as needed. The start time is 5:30 AM and ends when the route is complete, generally 9-10 hours/day. The union rate of pay is $33.35/HR. This is a Safety Sensitive position.

Requirements

Valid Class B CDL with air brakes endorsement REQUIRED as a minimum.
Must have a CLEAN DRIVING RECORD.
Basic knowledge of truck components in order to complete DOT pre- and post-trip inspections.
Employment contingent upon successful completion of pre-employment requirements including criminal background check, motor vehicle report and drug panel screening.

High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Responsibilities

Ability to safely drive large, heavy vehicles in residential neighborhoods requiring high awareness of pedestrians, traffic, and tight spaces to collect recycle on specific routes.
Ability to read an electronic route tablet and service each customer identified on the route or assigned by the dispatcher.
Ability to operate hydraulic lift (from inside the cab) to service 900+ garbage carts and dispose of trash at designated facilities.
Perform routine inspection and maintenance on vehicles such as checking fluids, safety equipment, and tires.
Ability to perform a physically demanding job, loading and unloading, at times with no helpers.
Courteous interaction with our customers and perform other miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
