About The Position

Zurich North America is seeking an experienced Senior Professional Liability and Cyber Underwriter for their Middle Market team, based in Philadelphia. This market-facing role is responsible for achieving key performance metrics, driving profitability, managing portfolio mix, identifying operational efficiencies, and executing go-to-market strategies to boost new business and renewal retention. The underwriter will perform risk analysis for Miscellaneous Professional Liability, Technology E&O, Employed Lawyers, and Security and Privacy. Responsibilities include technical, transactional, and market-facing duties, as well as contributions to product development, marketing, fulfillment, and portfolio management. The position offers a hybrid work arrangement, requiring three days per week in the office or market.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • 3 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing area OR 6 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support area
  • Knowledge of line/s of business and the legal and regulatory guidelines
  • Knowledge of time restraints for quotes on new and renewal business
  • Experience with Microsoft Office
  • 5 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing area OR 10 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support area (for Executive Underwriter level)
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office (for Executive Underwriter level)
  • Experience working on time restraints for quotes on new and renewal business (for Executive Underwriter level)

Responsibilities

  • Administering and monitoring underwriting rules and guidelines, insurance laws and regulations and rating manual rules
  • Developing and maintaining relationships with the external broker and agency communities and other internal Zurich business units to meet production growth goals
  • Providing superior service to our broker partners and customers
  • Identifying and calculating the potential risk of loss from policyholders while establishing appropriate premium rates following Zurich guidelines
  • Managing a portfolio of accounts and developing a pipeline of business
  • Collaborating and cross-selling with other stakeholders and lines of business within Zurich
