Underwriting Specialist OR Executive Underwriter - Middle Market
About The Position
Zurich North America is seeking an experienced Market Facing Property & Casualty Underwriter to join its Middle Market operation. This role can be filled at either the Underwriting Specialist or Executive Underwriter level, depending on the selected applicant's experience. The position is based in Maitland, FL, but virtual candidates within Florida will also be considered. The role involves serving as a customer advocate, understanding unique risks, and offering end-to-end solutions for Property & Casualty insurance needs. The underwriter will develop and maintain relationships with broker partners and customers, leverage underwriting acumen for risk assessment, exposure evaluation, and pricing to generate profitable new and renewal business. Collaboration with various business units such as claims, finance, risk engineering, actuarial, and technical underwriting is expected. The role requires strong technical underwriting, negotiation, and interpersonal skills to grow relationships with distribution partners in an assigned territory.
Requirements
- Underwriting Specialist: High School Diploma or Equivalent and 3 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing area.
- Underwriting Specialist: High School Diploma or Equivalent and 6 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support area.
- Underwriting Specialist: Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 1 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing area.
- Underwriting Specialist: Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 4 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support area.
- Underwriting Specialist: Knowledge of line/s of business and the legal and regulatory guidelines.
- Underwriting Specialist: Knowledge of time restraints for quotes on new and renewal business.
- Underwriting Specialist: Experience with Microsoft Office.
- Executive Underwriter: High School Diploma or Equivalent and 5 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing area.
- Executive Underwriter: High School Diploma or Equivalent and 10 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support area.
- Executive Underwriter: Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 3 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing area.
- Executive Underwriter: Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 8 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support area.
- Executive Underwriter: Knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Executive Underwriter: Experience working on time restraints for quotes on new and renewal business.
- Executive Underwriter: Experience working in a team environment.
