The position is responsible for managing and directing business activities for direct access and non-direct access of the business. This role serves as the primary point of contact for day-to-day questions. The Underwriting Manager will maintain and ensure the profitability of the program, organize and assemble a strong team to meet and exceed long-term goals, and implement strategic goals and objectives. The role requires providing effective leadership to meet business objectives, creating an invaluable management structure and control system, and exercising appropriate budgetary control. Capabilities must include complete underwriting and marketing skills. The manager will monitor accounts for compliance, create a strong fundamental base for employees, and provide vivid leadership qualities. Maintaining a clear and consistent form of management for program stability is crucial. The role involves supervising a multi-person team, effectively communicating client needs, and promoting continuing education for staff. The Underwriting Manager must meet or exceed production goals and manage new or enhanced business opportunities by recruiting and cultivating new clients, maintaining existing clients, and servicing existing relationships. This includes evaluating product and service marketability, maintaining current knowledge of industry trends, target markets, and competition, and serving as the main contact for underwriting and production. Developing targeted marketing materials, distribution, and messages aligned with the overall marketing strategy, and providing market intelligence and expertise to maximize renewals are also key responsibilities.
