About The Position

Medical Associates Clinic & Health Plans is seeking an Underwriting & Financial Analyst to join their team! This role involves underwriting prospective and renewal business, performing pricing of insurance products, and creating/analyzing reports for Health Plan and Clinic decision-making. The position also ensures regulatory compliance through internal audits and offers training and career growth opportunities.

Requirements

  • Financial or mathematics background
  • Proficiency in Microsoft products, especially Excel
  • Experience with advance excel functions such as VLOOKUPS and pivot tables
  • Auditing background
  • One to three years of similar or related experience
  • Equivalent to 4 year/Bachelors degree (finance or math preferred)
  • A significant level of trust and diplomacy is required, in addition to normal courtesy and tact.
  • Work involves extensive personal contact with others and/or is usually of a personal or sensitive nature.
  • Work may involve motivating or influencing others.
  • Outside contacts become important and fostering sound relationships with other entities (companies and/or individuals) becomes necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Perform and document the process for internal Medicare audits in order to ensure company wide compliance.
  • Utilize established medical underwriting practices to evaluate risk and rate calculations of all prospective rate proposals and renewals on a regular basis.
  • Prepare established monthly, quarterly, and annual reports.
  • Perform Stop Loss Marketing, including but not limited to: creation of necessary reports, submission of data and quote request to Carriers, recap market search and create quote spreadsheets. Review Stop Loss Policies and Applications for accuracy against quoted terms. Work with Account Executives and Directors as necessary to provide information about quotes and stop loss.
  • Prepare for year end financial and compliance audits by contracted auditors and state regulators.
  • Complete all other assigned projects and duties as assigned.
