Requirements

  • 1-2 years of experience in an underwriting department, or similar customer support role, of an insurance company; college degree preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in working in a Windows-based environment with a working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and internet applications.
  • Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and work accurately with detailed information.
  • Capable of working both independently and collaboratively in a team setting.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with producers through telephone conversations and electronic correspondence.
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Willingness to work towards Property and Casualty Producer license within 1 year of hire

Nice To Haves

  • Completion of insurance-related coursework is beneficial.

Responsibilities

  • Triage incoming phone calls and correspondence from agents and insureds regarding submissions, processing request, agent appointments, and general Collectibles related questions.
  • Place orders for inspection reports as assigned by underwriter.
  • Develop recommendation letters and monitor policies for recommendation compliance.
  • Ensure cancellations are processed in accordance with state requirements and policy conditions.
  • Contact producers to gather all required account information.
  • Assist with answering phone calls from producers
  • Act as liaison between various departments and Underwriting to ensure policies are issued correctly and premiums are booked and billed properly.
  • Assist Underwriters in obtaining and examining and evaluating documents such as applications, requests from insureds, and any other pertinent information to determine degree of risk, underwriting and appropriate placement.
  • Process non-premium endorsements.
  • Respond to correspondence from internal and external customers within 24 hours.
  • Provide other technical and clerical support as required by underwriting staff and management.
  • Demonstrate a strong customer focus through understanding customer’s needs and expectations and implements Company’s service standards.
  • Participate in underwriting meetings and events
  • Build foster relationships with agent partners, underwriters, and stakeholders.
  • Proactively communicate findings and collaborate closely with the underwriting team, fostering a partnership-oriented approach to achieve common goals.
