We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Underwriter to join our credit team. In this role, you will evaluate and make decisions on loan applications within the subprime auto lending space, balancing risk with business growth objectives. The ideal candidate has experience in finance, strong judgment, adaptability, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. THIS POSITION IS NOT A REMOTE POSITION - CANDIDATES MUST BE WILLING TO WORK FULL TIME IN OUR SOUTH JORDAN OFFICE.

Requirements

• 2+ years of underwriting experience, preferably in subprime auto lending (both direct and/or indirect)
• Strong understanding of credit analysis and risk assessment
• Familiarity with credit bureaus and reporting agencies
• Knowledge of state and federal lending regulations
• Excellent decision making and problem-solving skills
• Ability to thrive in a high-volume environment
• Strong communication with team members and leadership
• Organizational skills
• Ability to adjust to underwriting software and proficiency with programs such as Microsoft Suite

Responsibilities

• Review and evaluate auto loan applications
• Analyze credit reports, income documentation, and collateral
• Make sound credit decisions within established guidelines
• Identify risk factors and apply appropriate mitigations within guidelines
• Communicate decisions clearly and effectively
• Maintain compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements
• Meet productivity and quality targets
• Maintain a high level of precision and attention to detail in all underwriting decisions and documentation
• Collaboration with cross-functional teams as needed to support smooth operations and resolve application related issues
