Requirements

  • 2 -4 years of commercial insurance underwriting experience
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education/experience preferred
  • Curiosity, hardworking, self-accountable, positive attitude, humble and fun
  • Have an opinion, share your opinion and be open to other opinions
  • Passion to obtain, retain and employ knowledge – as well as share knowledge
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Hybrid availability: Must be able to work from our downtown Chicago office three days per week (Tuesday through Thursday)

Nice To Haves

  • Commercial Habitational experience strongly preferred
  • Retail agency relationship preferred

Responsibilities

  • Quote and release new and renewal business that has been either referred from underwriting algorithm or seeking changes that exceed user authority thresholds
  • Analyze and approve requested policy changes
  • Maintain familiarity and compliance with state insurance regulations and ISO rules for all states within assigned underwriting territory
  • Maintain open, transparent and supportive communications with team members and interdivisional partners
  • Monitor portfolio composition via reports, audits and inspections
  • Support marketing functions and efforts to build and promote Honeycomb
  • Complete special projects and assignments
  • Some travel as deemed necessary <20%
