About The Position

POSITION: Full-Time Underwriter PRIMARY FUNCTION: Under limited supervision, assists members with financial needs by providing a careful analysis of loans accepted for processing by the Credit Union. The purpose is to make sound and consistent loan decisions, to control delinquency and loan loss, and to match member needs to the appropriate MOCU loan product. Ensures loans meet the guidelines established by MOCU as well as meeting federal and state regulations.

Requirements

  • Strong analytical, organization, attention to detail and decision-making skills.
  • Lending knowledge and ability to follow policies and guidelines using sound judgement when making recommendations.
  • Comfortable auditing, researching and making corrections as needed.
  • Knowledgeable with credit reports and debt to income ratios.
  • Good at multi-tasking in a fast paced environment while maintaining excellent teamwork and team dynamics.
  • Ability to understand and retain complex information about the credit union's products and services.
  • PC-proficient in a Windows environment including keyboard competence.
  • Speaking on the telephone approximately 20% percent of workday.
  • Continuous sitting, standing, talking, and listening for extended periods of time.
  • Use of hands in repetitive tasks such as typing and writing.
  • Speaking, and hearing for interaction with members and coworkers.
  • Clarity of vision at 20 inches or less for processing of member transactions and computer usage.
  • Memory demands in recalling Credit Union policies, services, and state and federal regulations.
  • Occasional lifting up to 35 pounds to move supplies or office equipment.
  • Bending, squatting, or kneeling to reach supplies on ground level.
  • Reaching above shoulder level to reach supplies overhead.
