About The Position

RSUI is seeking a driven and curious group of college graduates for its Underwriter Trainee Academy, a paid, full-time, approximately 12-month rotational program designed to provide a hands-on introduction to specialty underwriting and the company. The program aims to give trainees a working knowledge of how the business operates and help them identify their best fit within the company. The experience is personalized, considering individual interests and strengths, with the goal of shaping the program around the trainee as much as possible. RSUI is a wholesale specialty insurance carrier that works exclusively through wholesale brokers to insure risks outside the standard market, fostering a relationship-driven, expertise-first environment where creative problem solvers thrive.

Requirements

A college degree completed before August 1, 2027 — all majors are welcome.
A history of high achievement with an always-learning mentality and the work ethic to back it up.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills — you're someone people enjoy working with and learn to rely on.
Comfort working independently and managing your own time and priorities, while also collaborating with your team and cross-functionally throughout RSUI.

Nice To Haves

A background in Risk Management & Insurance, Finance, or a related business field is a plus.
Any demonstrated interest in underwriting through coursework, internships, or hands-on experience.

Responsibilities

Rotate through RSUI's underwriting product lines and support departments, building context and connections at every stop.
Work alongside experienced underwriters who are generous with their time and invested in your growth.
Attend underwriting meetings and observe how decisions get made on complex, specialty risks.
Complete an individual capstone project that addresses a real business challenge and present takeaways to RSUI’s executive leadership.
Join broker seminars and occasional marketing trips, getting early exposure to the relationship side of this business.
Complete training and development touchpoints focused on both technical and soft skills, including a path toward relevant insurance designations.
