About The Position

Evaluates property & casualty insurance applications to determine the risk involved: decides to accept or reject the application; determines appropriate premium. A typical day will include the following: Assists in determining the acceptability, conditions and pricing of specific property & casualty insurance risks and associated coverage. Maintains familiarity with the products, services, priorities and target markets in the property & casualty line of business or insurance segment. Maintains familiarity with the loss experience and business conditions of key accounts as well as loss trends and any major legal or economic factors affecting the property & casualty line of business. Communicates effectively with colleagues in underwriting and all support areas in order to meet the property & casualty insurance needs of customers. May accompany senior underwriter or marketing representative on appointments in assigned territory and industry events. May develop and maintain relationships with agency representatives.

Requirements

  • Two to five years of experience in commercial multi-lines property and casualty underwriting
  • Must have attention-to-detail skills and possess a strong degree of organization
  • Must be analytical, results-oriented, and possess a strong sense of urgency
  • Must have good people and agency relationship building skills

Nice To Haves

  • College Degree or equivalent experience preferred but not required
