About The Position

Fortegra is looking for an Underwriter, Alternative Risk to join our Alternatives Risk Product Team. This is an excellent opportunity for an insurance professional to expand upon their foundational underwriting skills while supporting a dynamic and growing specialty products portfolio. We're especially looking for someone with an inquisitive mind, someone who asks questions, digs into the details, and is genuinely curious about how the business works. You'll work closely with agents and internal partners to evaluate applications, develop competitive quotes, and help manage the full policy lifecycle.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
5+ years of experience as an Underwriter.
A natural curiosity and eagerness to learn the insurance business from the ground up.
Knowledge of property and casualty insurance products is a plus.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Nice To Haves

Property & casualty insurance license is a plus but not required.

Responsibilities

Review and evaluate applications for coverage across Fortegra's Alternatives Risk product lines.
Develop quotes using established rating tools and underwriting methodology.
Manage quote workflows to ensure timely delivery and responsiveness to agents and clients.
Maintain accurate records in our CRM and track quote status through the pipeline.
Coordinate policy issuance and compliance submissions upon bind confirmation.
Proofread policies for accuracy prior to client delivery.
Support bordereau file review for premium reporting, claims, and other business management needs.
Collaborate with the broader underwriting team on analysis, reporting, and special projects.
