About The Position

EDM International, Inc. is seeking a driven and detail-oriented Underground Transmission Line Inspector/Observer to ensure the highest quality and safety standards in the construction of major underground utility projects. This role is ideal for someone who thrives outdoors, enjoys collaborating with contractors and engineers, and takes pride in precision.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in transmission, distribution, or substation line work.
• Strong knowledge of construction principles, specifications, and OSHA regulations (especially trenching/shoring).
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Strong communication, problem-solving, and adaptability skills.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and safely operate a vehicle for field inspections.

Nice To Haves

• Prior underground utility construction and inspection experience — especially in urban settings.
• Experience with Procore, ArcGIS, or Field Maps.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day field construction for underground transmission line projects.
• Conduct inspections to verify all work meets drawings, specifications, and project standards.
• Create accurate, detailed daily inspection reports.
• Collaborate closely with contractors and internal teams to resolve discrepancies.
• Observe and document field tests, such as concrete and soil testing.
• Maintain contract documents, permits, and updated “as-built” drawings.
• Participate in construction meetings and coordinate with local officials, right-of-way agents, and permitting authorities.
• Uphold and promote a safety-first culture, taking corrective action when needed.
