The Underground Transmission Engineer supports the engineering and design of underground transmission projects, from small assignments to large, complex cable systems. Projects may include new installations, relocations, system upgrades, and underground-to-overhead transitions at voltages from 69kV to 500kV. The role supports projects from conceptual design and routing through detailed design and construction. Work includes cable-system calculations, duct-bank and manhole design, plan and profile development, technical specifications, and coordination with clients, utilities, vendors, contractors, and other engineering disciplines. The engineer also provides technical support during procurement, construction, testing, and commissioning; supports estimates, schedules, proposals, and QA/QC; and may guide junior staff. Assignments are completed within project scope, schedule, and budget, with client meetings and site visits as required.
