About The Position

Nevada Gold Mines is seeking an Underground Trainer for its Cortez operations. The successful candidate will work with internal and external stakeholders to support safe and responsible mining operations. The role assists with developing and implementing competency-based training, maintaining compliance and training documentation, and delivering training suited to site and task needs. The trainer also supports continuous improvement, standardization of procedures, and initiatives that help employees perform their work safely, efficiently, and in an environmentally sound manner.

Requirements

• Proven experience working with peer groups and focus teams.

• Excellent leadership skills and knowledge of influencing others.
• Ability to promote safety in training and lead by example.
• Proven safe work record.

Nice To Haves

• Five years of experience in the mining, construction, or heavy equipment industry.
• Competent computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

Responsibilities

• Assist in developing and implementing competency training programs.
• Maintain site compliance by ensuring employees have the skills, knowledge, and attitude needed to perform assigned tasks safely, efficiently, and in an environmentally sound manner.
• Create and maintain accurate training records in accordance with MSHA regulations and site repository directives, including supporting documentation.
• Conduct observations in collaboration with operating departments.
• Create training courses based on site needs.
• Develop teaching outlines and select instructional methods, including individual and group instruction, lectures, demonstrations, meetings, and workshops.
• Assist in standardizing divisional procedures, guidelines, and planned task observations.
• Audit and review training courses, materials, and programs for continuous improvement.
• Assist with implementing a Competency Based Training system that supports employee retention of information.
• Assist with tracking task training and planned task observations.
• Maintain document control and management.
• Assist in planning and scheduling Annual Refresher Training for all employees.
• Facilitate new miner, experienced miner, hazard, site-specific, and task-specific training courses as needed.
• Participate in aligning site initiatives or mandates.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
