The Environmental Science UST Specialist plays a key role in ensuring regulatory compliance and protecting environmental quality. Core responsibilities include: · Reviewing compliance inspections and conducting State UST oversight inspections · Carrying out enforcement actions and facility follow‑up tasks using program tools such as Corrective Action Plans (CAPs) and Enforcement Requests · Conducting Environmental Assessments (EAs) · Issuing UST construction and operating permits in accordance with Montana regulations and industry standards · Delivering licensee training, stakeholder outreach, and compliance assistance · Educating facility owners and operators on UST system requirements and best practices for operation, maintenance, and recordkeeping · Providing on‑site technical assistance and operator training materials to support long‑term compliance This role is ideal for individuals who enjoy working both independently and collaboratively, engaging directly with the regulated community, and applying technical and regulatory knowledge to protect Montana’s environment.
