About The Position

Mason Private Locating is a Midwest-based underground utility locating company specializing in Private and Public Utility Locating, Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR), Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE), Robotic Pipe Inspections, and Cross-Bore Mitigation. Our experienced team utilizes cutting-edge technology to accurately identify underground infrastructure while maintaining the highest standards of safety and customer service. As we continue expanding across the western United States, we're looking for experienced Utility Locating Technicians for our Public 811 Locating Team in Texas. As a Utility Locator Technician, you'll locate and mark public 811 underground utilities supporting major fiber optic projects throughout the Austin area, where some travel may be required. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals who enjoy working outdoors, solving problems, and being part of a growing organization that values its employees.

Requirements

  • Minimum 1 + years utility locating experience required
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Ability to pass a physical examination and pre-employment drug screening
  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Ability to walk uneven terrain including dirt, gravel, grass, and roadways
  • Willingness to travel overnight as needed
  • Ability to work overtime, weekends, and participate in an on-call rotation

Responsibilities

  • Locate and accurately mark underground fiber optic utilities
  • Read and interpret utility maps, plans, and construction prints
  • Operate locating equipment safely and efficiently
  • Complete required documentation and daily reports
  • Communicate professionally with customers, contractors, and teammates
  • Follow all company safety procedures and industry standards
  • Maintain company equipment and vehicle
  • Perform additional duties as assigned
