About The Position
We are currently seeking an Underground Mine Operator 2 to join our Underground Operations team in Voisey’s Bay, Labrador, a fly-in fly-out operation. This is a permanent on-site position, working 2 weeks on, 2 weeks off schedule. The Underground Mine Operator 2 is a classification within the progression plan, in which employees will have the opportunity to develop skills and experience for advancement. As an Underground Mine Operator 2 you are responsible to perform the support functions in the underground mining operation within the below areas.
Requirements
- Completed a minimum of Grade 10 or Equivalent.
- Minimum 6 years’ experience working in an underground mining operation using mechanized equipment.
- Demonstrate a concern for Safety, Health and Environment.
- Knowledge of safe work practices and standard operating procedures.
- Ability to recognize hazards within an industrial workplace and understands role in assessing/managing risk.
- Strong ability to work cooperatively within a team environment.
- Demonstrate initiative and follow instruction.
Responsibilities
- Perform the support functions in the underground mining operation within the Shotcrete, Construction, Backfill areas.
- Install, advance and maintain paste fill services.
- Perform fill placement.
- Operate Development Scoop in a safe and efficient manner.
- Operate Development Scoop & Mechanized Rock Bolter in a safe and efficient manner.
