The Underground Mine Geologist supports the Hermosa Project by contributing to the collection, validation, and interpretation of high quality geological data. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, developing and implementing best practices for underground geology functions; conducting underground mapping, sampling, and material routing; providing comprehensive support for underground drilling activities from design through core logging; and contributing to orebody delineation to inform and optimize stope design. This position is based at the Hermosa Project site near Patagonia, Arizona. Other key responsibilities include, but aren’t limited to: Ensure and maintain safe practices in alignment with South32 Hermosa standards and core values. Drive zero harm workplace through visible felt leadership, stop work authority, and other safety programs in place. Uphold safety and environmental standards and compliance. Support accurate and consistent geological mapping and sampling of active mining areas, as well as uphold and contribute to QA/QC initiatives. Compile mapping and assay information in 3-D software and correlate it with existing models. Support accurate routing of mined material based upon mapping, assaying, and pXRF analyses. Provide comprehensive support for underground drilling activities, including the design of drill fans, checking on underground drill rigs, and detailed logging of diamond drill core Support communication and integration of Geologic data across all Technical Services functions. Attend all relevant operational meetings to ensure seamless integration of geology within the mining cycle. Contribute to orebody delineation and provide geological guidance to engineering to support and optimize stope design Support training of Geologists.
