Underground Lineworker (CDL License Preferred)
About The Position

POSITION: Underground Lineworker Class III REMARKS: Responsible for the inspecting, installing, constructing, maintaining, and repairing of underground plant and equipment. Performs functions associated with cable & conduit installation. Operates trucks and equipment of any size in conjunction with inspecting, installing, connecting, disconnecting and repair of cable, conductors, and other plant and equipment. Can assist or The Underground Lineworker is responsible for the inspecting, installing, constructing, maintaining, and repairing of underground plant and equipment. Performs functions associated with cable & conduit installation. Operates trucks and equipment of any size in conjunction with inspecting, installing, connecting, disconnecting and repair of cable, conductors, and other plant and equipment. Can assist or be assisted by personnel of a higher, equal, or lower rating for all tasks within the line of progression. Starting Rate of Pay: $38.21 per hour Location: Dorchester, MA Rotating Shift Work is Required Union-Represented Position (UWUA Local 369) This role supports multiple start dates; qualified candidates will be considered for the June and November hiring classes.
Requirements
- Must have the ability to learn: The fundamentals of electricity; the layout, functions and construction of the Company’s underground electrical system; the theory and practices of splicing, the standards and specifications for installation, maintenance, removal and repair of the underground electric system; the practices, principles of operations and the proper applications of equipment as prescribed by the Company for safety and first aid.
- High School education or equivalent required.
- Two years of electrical/mechanical/technical experience is preferred. Must demonstrate an interest in and aptitude for splicing, cable, and conduit work and ability in underground electric systems.
- Must have Massachusetts License to Operate Motor Vehicles and a satisfactory driving record
- Must have the ability to obtain a Class A CDL license before progressing to the next level
- Must pass Company approved EEI testing (CAST) and successfully complete Underground prescreen.
