About The Position

The Underground Field Service Mechanic performs maintenance and repairs on mobile equipment in underground mining operations. This is a permanent, unionized position with two openings. The work location is in Nunavik, with a demanding work schedule of 6 weeks on, 3 weeks off, working 77 hours per week.

Requirements

Possess a professional diploma (DEP) in construction equipment mechanics or an equivalent qualification.
Have experience on a mechanical service vehicle.
Have a background in heavy machinery maintenance.
Showcase proficient diagnostic abilities.
Hold a valid driver's license for class 5 vehicles.
Completion of FMTM mining modules 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 7.
Hold a valid explosives permit.

Nice To Haves

Background in the mining industry.
Bilingualism (French/English) is an asset.

Responsibilities

Respond to service calls from operations.
Diagnose issues on the construction site.
Perform repairs on the construction site.
Determine the cause and nature of failures to specify the methods and means of repairs to be done.
Assist colleagues on the site with various tasks as needed.
Drive and maintain service vehicles.
Adhere to the company's health and safety requirements and recommendations.
Perform other related tasks related to the position.
