About The Position

Whipple Service Champions is expanding its underground division and seeking experienced utility excavators who know how to safely expose, trench, and support repairs on water, sewer, and other buried service lines. If you’ve spent your time digging around live utilities, identifying line paths, and operating excavation equipment with precision, this role is built for you.

Requirements

• 1+ year utility‑focused excavation experience
• Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work outdoors in all conditions
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
• Strong work ethic and willingness to learn underground utility work
• Ability to work in trenches and confined spaces

Nice To Haves

• Underground utility excavation experience — Water, sewer, drainage, or service‑line exposure
• Precision digging around live utilities
• Heavy equipment operation — mini‑excavators, backhoes, skid steers
• Ability to work in trenches, confined spaces, and all weather conditions
• Prior experience supporting plumbing or underground repair crews
• Knowledge of utility locating, shoring, and trench safety standards

Responsibilities

• Safely expose water, sewer, and drain lines using hand digging and equipment
• Run mini‑excavators, backhoes, skid steers, and trenchers for utility access
• Dig accurate, safe trenches for repair and replacement projects
• Assist with pipe replacement, spot repairs, and underground service work
• Follow trenching, shoring, confined‑space, and utility‑locate procedures
• Maintain equipment, jobsite cleanliness, and documentation
• Provide respectful, professional communication when interacting with homeowners
