About The Position

The Underground Electrician reports to the Electrical Supervisor, and the primary role is the installation and maintenance of electrical infrastructure within the Operations. Duties include: Complete monthly schedule d compliance work to a high standard. Installation of underground electrical reticulation and infrastructure. Breakdown and maintenance repairs on underground drilling equipment. Installation, maintenance and repairs of underground remote, communication and network systems. Maintenance and breakdown repairs of electrical infrastructure, dewatering infrastructure and telemetry are completed to a high standard. Liaise closely and maintain effective communication with Electrical Supervisor and other key Stakeholders. Attend daily pre-start meeting to ensure effective communication and handovers between crews with regard to electrical maintenance plans, and see that issue are completed in detail. Rigorous cost management. Avoid rework and unnecessary use of parts/services. Continuously review scheduled jobs to identify opportunities for improvement. Highlight equipment defects and issues, effectively utilising the electrical management process. Carry out and provide input to the development of and follow SWPs/JHAs and World Precision Instrument (WPI), ensuring risks are mitigated, and safety standards are met. Undertake team-based risk assessments as required. Ensure correct history is collected and effectively recorded. Ensure correct electrical testing is completed to comply with standards and that all documentation is recorded correctly and in a timely manner. Update all registers and drawings on completion of all tasks/installations prior to end of shift. Provide input into the annual performance reviews for Electrical Apprentices. Ensure all safety related activities are undertaken in accordance with Company policy and MSHA requirements including Hazard IDs, pre-start checks, pre-start meetings, and incident reporting. Maintain a high standard of housekeeping in all work areas. Other duties as required.

Requirements

  • Current Driver’s License.
  • Minimum 3 years relevant experience in the mining industry.
  • Computer literacy – Microsoft Office, etc.
  • Good communication skills.
  • High Voltage switching ticket.
  • Flexibility to adapt to improved procedures and practices.
  • Awareness of the Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) Act & Regulations.
  • Be able to pass a background check and post offer physical.
