About The Position

Hotchkis & Wiley is seeking a highly motivated individual to become part of our six-week undergraduate internship program. The internship will provide in-depth exposure to the work done by investment professionals for an institutional asset management firm. The summer will provide an excellent foundation for a career in finance, particularly asset management, and is expected to serve as a feeder to our full-time Research Associate program post-graduation. Hotchkis & Wiley is a research-driven organization with a team-oriented investment process and a collegial culture. Our Investment Analysts, supported by our Research Associates, enjoy a high level of responsibility in identifying attractive investment opportunities globally and across the entire market capitalization range as well as across the capital structure. After a 1-2 week introduction to principles of accounting, basic financial modeling, and the foundations of competition and strategy, the intern will be assigned a mentor from our full-time Research Associate program. With the assistance of the mentor, the intern will conduct industry analysis and research as well as prepare a simple financial model and a short write-up for a stock idea selected by the firm. The intern will have the opportunity to present this investment idea for comments and consideration by senior members of the investment team. During the summer, the intern will also be invited to attend meetings with company management and to participate in calls and meetings with analysts and industry experts. Hotchkis & Wiley considers our intern program a vital source of hiring for our Research Associate program, so our interns receive individual mentorship and work directly with our investment team. Our full time program provides competitive compensation, strong exit opportunities, and an attractive work-life balance within a highly collegial culture.
