About The Position

Student will assist current lab members with ongoing research projects. These duties will include washing dishes, preparing tubes for sample collection, performing basic lab experiments like DNA/RNA isolation, PCR, and other sample prep. Student will accompany researchers to the animal vivarium to assist with research colony.

Requirements

  • Current enrollment in a college program with a interest in biological sciences.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately and work under supervision.
  • Dependability, initiative, and a strong work ethic.
  • Student should be organized, able to follow basic instructions, have good communication skills and wiliness to work with research animals.

Responsibilities

  • Lab cleanup and maintenance by putting away incoming supplies, washing dishes, prepping tubes for sample collection so that the lab is clean and functional.
  • Performing basic lab procedures like pipetting solutions, setting up sample isolations of DNA/RNA and performing PCR analysis under the supervision of senior lab members in order to promote the research projects ongoing in the lab.
  • Assisting with sample collection and animal handling.
  • Provide assistance to senior lab members while performing animal experiments and sample collection in order to generate data for ongoing research projects in the lab.
