About The Position

Student will assist current lab members with ongoing research projects. These duties will include washing dishes, preparing tubes for sample collection, performing basic lab experiments like DNA/RNA isolation, PCR, and other sample prep. Student will accompany researchers to the animal vivarium to assist with research colony.

Requirements

Current enrollment in a college program with a interest in biological sciences.
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately and work under supervision.
Dependability, initiative, and a strong work ethic.
Student should be organized, able to follow basic instructions, have good communication skills and wiliness to work with research animals.

Responsibilities

Lab cleanup and maintenance by putting away incoming supplies, washing dishes, prepping tubes for sample collection so that the lab is clean and functional.
Performing basic lab procedures like pipetting solutions, setting up sample isolations of DNA/RNA and performing PCR analysis under the supervision of senior lab members in order to promote the research projects ongoing in the lab.
Assisting with sample collection and animal handling.
Provide assistance to senior lab members while performing animal experiments and sample collection in order to generate data for ongoing research projects in the lab.
