About The Position

This position is for an enrolled American University student to assist with a mixed-methods study involving incarcerated individuals and correctional staff. The study will include qualitative interviews and quantitative analysis of records. The role offers an opportunity to build experience, grow skills, and contribute to the university community. Most student positions are eligible for Federal Work Study (FWS) awards.

Requirements

  • Current AU undergraduate student.
  • Organized.
  • Teachable.
  • Works well in a team environment.
  • Familiar with prison environment and regulations.

Nice To Haves

  • Preference for students with a Federal Work Study award.

Responsibilities

  • Background research on protocol development.
  • Background research on IRB requirements for vulnerable populations (incarcerated people).
  • Assist with development of survey items.
  • Assist with submission to American University IRB.
  • Outreach to prisons in efforts to gain access and assist with prison visit scheduling.
