Purpose: We are seeking a motivated Mechanical Engineer Intern to join our Reading, Pennsylvania team. In this role, you will support multidisciplinary engineering teams delivering Power Generation and Power Network projects, including critical infrastructure and data center facilities. This internship offers hands-on exposure to mechanical engineering design, technical analysis, documentation, and project execution while working alongside experienced professionals.

Requirements

  • Completion of foundational coursework in areas such as thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, heat transfer, mechanics, or engineering design.
  • Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and Word.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and manage multiple assignments with guidance.
  • Interest in the power, energy, utility, critical infrastructure, and data center industries.
  • Ability to work in office in Reading/Wyomissing, PA.
  • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline from an accredited program.

Nice To Haves

  • Exposure to computer-aided design or engineering analysis software, such as AutoCAD, Revit, SolidWorks, or similar tools.
  • Familiarity with mechanical systems used in industrial, utility, or mission-critical facilities, including HVAC, cooling water, ventilation, pumps, piping, or rotating equipment.
  • Awareness of applicable engineering codes, standards, and safe design practices.
  • Prior internship, co-op, laboratory, academic project, or design-team experience.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the design and evaluation of mechanical systems for power generation, power network, and data center projects.
  • Support engineering calculations, equipment sizing, data collection, and technical analyses under the guidance of senior engineers.
  • Help prepare and review drawings, specifications, equipment lists, technical reports, and other project deliverables.
  • Coordinate with electrical, civil, structural, piping, process, and project engineering disciplines to support integrated design solutions.
  • Participate in project meetings, design reviews, and technical discussions; document actions and follow-up items as assigned.
  • Research equipment, materials, codes, standards, and industry practices relevant to project requirements.
  • Assist with vendor document review, bid evaluations, and the organization of technical information.
  • Support field visits, site observations, and data gathering when required, while following all safety procedures.
  • Maintain accurate project files and complete assigned work in accordance with quality, schedule, and budget expectations.
