About The Position

Turning Point Center for Youth & Family Development, Inc., a nonprofit organization serving individuals and families in an outpatient setting working on mental health and substance use. An internship at Turning Point is focused on introducing students into the community mental health environment with a variety of different programs and services. Interns are able to customize their internship experience to be able to gain exposure and experience in a variety of different settings and a variety of different populations.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate program in HDFS, Social Work, Psychology, or a related field
  • Strong interpersonal skills, cultural humility, and a commitment to social equity
  • Ability to pass background check and UA requirements
  • Reliable transportation and availability for in-person work

Nice To Haves

  • Experience or coursework in criminal justice, family systems, or trauma-informed care

Responsibilities

  • Assist with intakes, group co-facilitation and case documentation under supervision
  • Shadow and support clinicians in coaching, individual, group, and family therapy sessions
  • Help coordinate services and maintain contact with clients, families, and external partners
  • Attend staff meetings, case consultations, and professional development opportunities
  • Maintain strict confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA and agency guidelines
  • Support outreach and engagement efforts for clients on Medicaid and underserved populations
  • Effectively represent the mission and purpose of Turning Point.
  • Oversee all aspects of the client’s treatment services and delivery.
  • Coordinate with Supervisor to ensure the quality of therapeutic services for the clients served in all areas of the program.
  • Complete other duties as assigned.
