About The Position

The ACLU seeks an Undergraduate Intern on the Multimedia team in the Communications Department of the ACLU’s National office. This is a full-time or part-time position that can be remote or based in our NY Office. Qualifying applicants must currently be matriculated undergraduate students or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience and must be based in the U.S. for the entire duration of the internship. The ACLU Communications department creates, maintains, and expands message narratives to engage our supporters and other target audiences, to help protect and expand civil liberties and civil rights, and also illustrate the value and impact of the ACLU’s transformational work. Through our messaging, engagement with newsmakers, our written, video and audio storytelling, and visual identity, we encourage support for the ACLU and help to build a more perfect union.

Requirements

  • Currently matriculated undergraduate students or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
  • Must be based in the U.S. for the entire duration of the internship.
  • Demonstrated interest in video production, photography, journalism, and storytelling.
  • Excellent writing and research skills.
  • Able to juggle multiple tasks and prioritize.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with video editing and experience working in an editorial environment preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Research video topics, draft scripts, review and transcribe video footage.
  • Edit short videos for social media, if able, and help copyedit video content.
  • Assist with remote or in-person video recording sessions or photo shoots.
  • Pitch topics and provide background research for each episode.
  • Assist with remote and in-person episode tapings.
  • Edit podcast taping transcripts and prepare publish packaging for podcast episodes.
