About The Position

Newport Mental Health (NMH) is a progressive, high-energy organization that uses a state-of-the-art, person-centered recovery approach to help individuals recover from mental illness and substance use disorders. NMH extends its trauma-informed, evidence-based services to children, adolescents, families, and adults. Our services vary from outreach, specialized programs, mental health, school-based therapy, substance use therapy, community-based therapy, and outpatient clinics. We are currently seeking a motivated, caring, and empathetic intern to join our Children’s General Outpatient (CGOP) team. You will assist CGOP clinicians with facilitating youth summer camp day programs at local Newport County YMCA locations. This role is an 11-week internship, with 40 hours weekly. This internship will allow you to learn about Newport Mental Health's person-centered approach to care and will allow the individual to gain hands-on clinical experience with children and adolescents in a summer camp setting. This role will allow the intern to support any behavioral or mental health challenges of campers, assisting in making referrals to Newport Mental Health when applicable, and to serve as the link between the YMCA and Newport Mental Health.
