About The Position

The Undercarriage Technician is responsible for servicing and repairing undercarriages of equipment in the shop. This role requires the ability to remove and install components, understand and utilize exchange items, and safely operate and inspect machines to diagnose defects. The technician will troubleshoot and repair all components of equipment undercarriages, document work electronically, and complete assignments and training within allotted time. Maintaining good work habits, complying with safety regulations, and performing other duties as requested by management are also key aspects of this position.

Requirements

  • Experience in troubleshooting and repairing diesel-powered heavy equipment undercarriage systems.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Must own proper tools to perform required repairs.

Responsibilities

  • Servicing and repairing undercarriages of equipment in the shop.
  • Removal and installation of components by following the appropriate service manual.
  • Understanding and utilizing various exchange items and evaluating price of exchange vs. cost of repair.
  • Safely and properly operating and inspecting machines/vehicles to diagnose defects in undercarriage systems.
  • Diagnosing, troubleshooting, and repairing all components of equipment undercarriages.
  • Formally documenting the work done on the equipment electronically.
  • Completing work assignments and assigned training within allotted time.
  • Securing and maintaining appropriate licensing.
  • Maintaining good work habits and complying with all safety and company regulations.
  • Performing other duties as requested by management.
