About The Position

The Undercarriage Shop Technician 1 performs basic to moderate diagnosis and repairs on heavy construction equipment undercarriage in a shop environment. The incumbent in this position is expected to model the company's mission and core business values, collaborate with key internal/external resources, and participate in ongoing self-development. The technician performs basic repairs on equipment undercarriage and undercarriage components, operates undercarriage build-up and rebuild machines, and all tooling and machines used in undercarriage rebuilding. They assist in disassembling, cleaning, inspections, repairs, and assembling undercarriage components, as well as evaluating, measuring, and monitoring undercarriage conditions. Working as a member of a team, the technician provides basic technical and mechanical services to satisfy customer needs and achieve departmental goals. Overtime is required as dictated by workload and customer needs. The role involves assisting in preparing service reports and other necessary paperwork, maintaining all company equipment, tools, and work areas, and performing and completing all tasks with direct supervision. The technician provides assistance to other Undercarriage Technicians for larger jobs, adheres to contamination control and HAZMAT rules and regulations, and works safely at all times, complying with all company policies, procedures, and standards. Regular and punctual attendance is required. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Knowledge of equipment and tools, including their designs, uses, repair and maintenance.
Knowledge with current computer software, related hardware, and machine electronic systems.
CAT ET and CAT SIS 2.0
Excellent work habits, accuracy, attention to detail, and quality of work.

Ability to develop technical skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Ability to follow manufacturer and company installation and service guidelines to ensure quality work.

Technical schooling preferred
1+ years of heavy construction equipment repair experience preferred
Must own basic tools to perform the job
Must complete V.B.L. and DISC classes prior to promoting to Tech 2

Nice To Haves

Basic torch and welding ability a plus but not required.

Responsibilities

Works safely at all times and adheres to all applicable safety policies; complies with all company policies, procedures, and standards.
Requires regular and punctual employee attendance.
Performs other duties as assigned.
