About The Position

Serve as a senior leader within the Unclaimed Property practice group with the opportunity to succeed into a practice leader role. Assist leadership with identifying growth opportunities and contribute to the strategic direction of the practice. Participate in networking events, conferences, webinars, speaking opportunities, and other thought leadership initiatives. Develop abandoned and unclaimed property (“AUP”) thought leadership including marketing materials, articles, presentations, and client alerts. Build and maintain relationships with existing and prospective clients, external legal counsel, private equity groups, or other referral sources. Collaborate with CBIZ practice office teams to assist with client AUP issues. Manage large unclaimed property projects spanning multiple years (i.e., voluntary disclosures and audit controversy), including preparation/review of engagement deliverables (such as research, analysis conclusions, memoranda, working papers, etc.). Manage the annual compliance process (including review of annual reports, management of due diligence process, monitoring legislative updates, communications with clients, etc.). Supervise consulting and compliance team personnel, including mentoring and development. Responsible for personnel management activities, including scheduling, training, recruiting, etc. Responsible for client management and administration such as budgets, monthly billing, collections, financial performance, etc. Excels in creative problem solving, critical thinking, and professional writing. Fosters a team environment; demonstrates support of management decisions and builds a positive culture. Maintains and complies with the highest degree of professional standards, client confidentiality, and personal conduct. Ability to multi-task, manage deadlines, prioritize tasks as necessary, think independently, and problem-solve in a results-driven, team-oriented environment. Demonstrate ability to professionally communicate verbally and in writing both internally within CBIZ and externally with clients.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • 8 years of experience in public accounting or related field
  • 6 years of supervisory experience
  • Must have active CPA or equivalent certification
  • Ability to manage deadlines, work on multiple assignments and prioritize each assignment as necessary
  • Proficient use of applicable technology
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate verbally and in writing throughout all levels of organization, both internally and externally
  • Proven high level of business integrity, client service and leadership skills
  • Must be able to travel based on client and business needs

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree preferred in Accounting, Taxation or related field preferred
  • CPA or other relevant professional designation
  • 8+ years of experience in the unclaimed property field
