About The Position

EPI is seeking part-time, unarmed security staff in Charleston, SC, to provide security services for the College of Charleston at various campus locations. The primary work schedule will be Friday through Sunday nights, from 10:30 PM to 7:00 AM. Successful candidates must possess or be able to obtain a SLED security guard card within 30 days of employment. EPI will cover the cost of obtaining a new SLED unarmed guard card. There are also opportunities to work additional nights and major events through EPI's event staff branch.

Requirements

  • Must hold a SLED Unarmed Guard certification throughout employment.
  • Must be available to work overnight hours as the contract requires.
  • Must be able to adhere to specific instructions and post orders.
  • Must have reliable transportation to/from work.
  • Must obtain a SLED security guard card within 30 days of employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Basic knowledge of or training in understanding the Higher Education legal and regulatory environment (e.g.: Title IX of the Education Amendments Act of 1972 (Title IX); The Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act (Clery Act); Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), Campus Sexual Violence Elimination (SaVE) Act, etc.).

Responsibilities

  • Provide unarmed security to the College of Charleston at various campus locations.
  • Adhere to specific instructions and post orders.
  • Subject all visitors to identification and control measures established by the College of Charleston (College), Department of Public Safety (DPS), without exception.
  • Have all visitors sign-in upon entering the building.
  • Prevent loss of property or harm to students and/or personnel by monitoring for fire, theft, vandalism, or unauthorized persons conducting themselves in an unsafe or unruly manner.
  • Use College-provided software system to complete any required reports, logs, and/or forms.
  • Maintain the DPS sign-in sheet during the shift.
  • Report any unusual incidents or hazardous conditions as soon as possible to DPS, including but not limited to fire, criminal activity, theft, chemical spills, telephone outage, power outage, equipment malfunction, formal complaints, and/or concerns brought to their attention by any students, faculty, visitors, or vendors.
