Requirements

  • 1 year ultrasound experience with nontraditional and adaptive scanning preferred.
  • Veterinary experience preferred but not required.
  • Able to interact and communicate professionally between multiple departments.
  • Able to interact with clients in a manner that supports Avets mission statement.
  • Remain calm and efficient in a high stress environment.
  • Pursue continuing education opportunities, both independently and those provided by Avets.
  • Willingness to cross-train in other areas of the hospital (i.e. CT and MRI equipment)
  • Schedule will include a portion of the weekend and holiday shifts required by hospital patient load.

Responsibilities

  • Daily use of Radiology equipment such as Ultrasound, CT, MRI, and Fluoroscopy.
  • Performs Ultrasounds, CT, and MRI scans with proper technical factors.
  • In partnership with Veterinary Technicians, assists in positioning of patients to ensure appropriate images are captured.
  • Trains staff to form standard expectations with all patient imaging.
  • Works independently or under the guidance of other sonographers to modify scan techniques for optimal imaging quality.
  • Troubleshoots imaging quality issues while performing Ultrasounds, CTs, and MRIs.
  • Performs routine CT and MRI quality assurance and reports any concerns in a timely manner.
  • Maintains a clean and safe environment, while adhering to appropriate restricted access areas.
  • Other duties as assigned.
