About The Position

Millennium Physician Group is hiring a Per Diem Ultrasound Tech for our Fernandina Beach office. This position offers a flexible schedule and the opportunity to make a difference in patients' lives. The role is PRN, meaning hours or shifts will be worked as needed, with no weekends or major holidays required. The Ultrasound Imaging Technologist must hold all necessary certifications and licenses, be able to handle a high-volume, fast-paced environment with a pleasant disposition, and maintain quality control records, accreditation forms, and daily logs. Proficiency in computer software such as PACS, eRad, and Athena Clinicals and Communicator is required. The technologist must obtain detailed patient histories for radiologist review, follow all safety protocols, and be able to multitask with attention to detail. Effective communication with management and colleagues is also essential.

Requirements

  • Must hold all certifications and licenses related to their scope of practice.
  • Must be able to handle a high volume, fast-paced environment with a pleasant disposition.
  • Responsible for maintaining all quality control records, ACR accreditation forms and daily logs for modality specific areas.
  • Must be proficient in the use of computer software, ie: PACS, eRad, and Athena Clinicals and Communicator.
  • Must obtain a detailed history on every exam performed in their specific modality for presentation to the Radiologist.
  • Must follow all safety protocol to ensure safety of patients and equipment.
  • Must be able to multi task with attention to detail.
  • Must read and respond to communication from manager in a timely manner.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains effective communication with the patient, providing explanations of procedures within the scope of practice.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of occurrence reporting (patient case) in Athena and uses the system to report potential patient safety issues.
  • Maintains proactive and effective communication with radiologists regarding unusual clinical findings, history, test results, and their implications.
  • Ensures physician orders for procedures are entered accurately and consults appropriate resources to clarify unfamiliar or questionable orders.
  • Optimizes the use of supplies, equipment, and services to ensure a high level of clinical care at the lowest cost, actively seeking ways to control costs without compromising patient safety or quality of care.
  • Takes responsibility for ensuring orders match diagnosis to ensure proper reimbursement for services.
  • Demonstrates a patient-first approach to care, introducing self and role to the patient, and acting as a patient advocate.
  • Willingly assists co-workers to achieve goals and acts as a resource to co-workers as appropriate.
  • Actively participates in staff meetings and in-services.
  • Assumes personal responsibility for professional development and actively promotes the development of self and others.
