About The Position

Performs ultrasonic examinations for subsequent evaluation and treatment by the attending physician. Performs a variety of technical procedures requiring independent judgment, ingenuity, and initiative in applying ultrasound techniques for radiologic diagnosis. Responsible for the safety and comfort of patients undergoing ultrasound procedures. Ensures procedures have been appropriately ordered and satisfactory patient identification has been obtained before conducting each procedure.

Requirements

• ARDMS/CCI certification, or graduation from a program accredited by an agency recognized by CHEA, USDOE, or CMA that specifically conducts programmatic accreditation for diagnostic medical sonography, diagnostic cardiac sonography, or vascular technology, and eligibility for registry.
• Current BLS certification or obtain it within the first 7 days of employment.
• Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) certification within 90 days of employment.
• Clinical experience acquired through completion of a radiologic sciences program.
• Graduate of an accredited radiologic sciences or ultrasound technology program.

Nice To Haves

• Two years of experience as a sonographer in an acute care hospital setting.
• Graduate of an accredited radiologic sciences program with a B.S.
• Completion of advanced modality program(s).

Responsibilities

• Ensure the safety and comfort of patients undergoing ultrasound procedures.
• Verify that procedures have been appropriately ordered and satisfactory patient identification has been obtained before conducting procedures.
