The Ultrasound Technologist is responsible for performing a comprehensive array of sophisticated non-invasive procedures to demonstrate the appropriate anatomy of interest. This role independently provides complete and accurate images for diagnostic purposes, documents patient history, and communicates "Wet Read" reports to physician offices. The technologist records patient medical information, explains test procedures, and ensures a secure and safe patient and work environment by maintaining awareness of safety hazards. They comply with procedural standards, assist with patient positioning, clean and sanitize equipment, apply sterile techniques, and maintain adequate supplies for the Ultrasound Department. Additionally, the technologist provides technical support for the smooth operation of the department, including preparing encounter forms for billing, communicating with other departments for scheduling, interacting with the site manager, attending meetings, and assisting with phones and scheduling as needed. The role also requires staying abreast of the latest ultrasound developments through society memberships, continuing education, maintaining professional accreditation, and participating in CQI projects.
