Requirements

ARDMS certification in Abdomen, OB/GYN, or applicable specialty required — or registry-eligible with a clear path to certification
Completed accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography program
Current BLS certification
Valid state licensure current (where required)
Proficiency in ultrasound equipment and PACS, RIS, and EMR systems
Strong image optimization and multi-specialty scanning protocol knowledge
Ability to work independently in a high-volume outpatient environment
Strong communication skills with patients, radiologists, and clinical staff
Commitment to QA participation and ongoing professional development
Willingness to mentor students and contribute to a positive clinical culture

Nice To Haves

1–2 years of clinical ultrasound experience (general, OB/GYN, and/or vascular) preferred

Responsibilities

Perform the full spectrum of ultrasound exams—abdominal, pelvic, OB/GYN across all three trimesters, small parts, and vascular studies.
Own the quality of every image produced.
Review own work for diagnostic completeness before it reaches the radiologist.
Manage own workflow.
Keep exam area stocked and clean.
Support departmental operations.
Adapt when exams run long, when protocols shift, or when a patient requires extra time and care.
Provide clear explanation of the procedure to patients.
Confirm clinical history with patients.
Provide genuine care for patient comfort.
Mentor students or new staff.
Share scanning instincts.
Model protocol compliance.
Participate in quality assurance.
Engage in continuing education.
