This position is responsible for performing diagnostic sonographic examinations and procedures in the OB/GYN (MFM) specialty area. The technologist will utilize ultrasonic equipment to locate, evaluate, and record anatomical, pathological, and functional data, operating equipment to produce quality images in required modalities.

Requirements

  • Registered as an American Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer in OBGYN.
  • Nuchal translucency certification (NTQR/FMF) required within 3 months of hire.
  • Completion of an approved ultrasound technology educational program.
  • Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.

Nice To Haves

  • 2 years of MFM experience.
  • College graduate is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Interacts with patients by identifying self, verifying patient identity, explaining procedures and equipment, and providing patient privacy.
  • Performs diagnostic sonographic examinations and procedures utilizing ultrasonic equipment in various modes and techniques.
  • Operates ultrasound equipment to make quality images and performs studies in required modalities.
  • Administers ultrasound procedures by operating computerized equipment and recording devices, utilizing patient charts for history.
  • Alerts appropriate medical staff of abnormalities requiring immediate attention.
  • Compares present studies to previous ones to monitor changes.
  • Uses advanced judgment to determine if procedures are sufficient for diagnosis or if additional imaging is needed.
  • Uses highly technical equipment to produce scans and conduct procedures.
  • Writes reports based on scan completion, documents scans according to departmental procedures, and enters/maintains pertinent patient data.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
