About The Position

Adventist Health Tehachapi Valley has been providing high-quality healthcare services since 1934. We are comprised of a 25-bed hospital, wide range of outpatient services, emergency department, rural health clinics and medical offices. Tehachapi is located just north of Southern California's highly populated areas, with a mountain locale known for its outdoor living. Residents enjoy the scenic beauty, extreme sports and wildlife. Tehachapi is a nice balance of a small-town community within an epicenter of shopping, retail, arts and culture. Performs ultrasonic diagnostic procedures in accordance with accepted protocols as directed by physicians. Produces images of internal body tissues in order to diagnose and monitor a variety of conditions such as heart disease, pregnancy and cancer. Supervises and mentors ultrasound personnel. Maintains equipment.

Requirements

  • Diploma/certificate from an Ultrasound college/school: Required
  • ACR Accredited Sites: All sonographers must be certified and currently registered by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) certification in Abdomen (AB), Obstetrics (OB) or Vascular (RVT); or Cardiovascular Credentialing International Registered Vascular Specialist (CCI-RVS); or Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in Sonography (S) or (VS) within one year of hire: Required in CA and HI (with multiple areas Preferred)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS OR HS-BLS OR RQIBLS) certification from approved vendor per AH policy: Required
  • AHA-BLS or ARC-BLS: Required
  • American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) or CCI Registered Vascular Specialist (CCI RVS) or ARRT-Vascular Sonography (ARRT-VS) or ARRT-Sonography (ARRT-S): Required

Nice To Haves

  • Multiple areas of certification (ARDMS, CCI-RVS, ARRT-S, ARRT-VS) Preferred in CA and HI

Responsibilities

  • Uses ultrasound equipment to direct high-frequency sound waves to a prescribed area of the patient’s body and capture quality images that describe the composition, shape and motion of tissues, organs, vessels and pathology.
  • Summarizes, documents, verifies and presents images, findings, calculations and measurements to physicians for diagnoses.
  • Adheres to ultrasonic diagnostic procedures, precautions and standards.
  • Provides direct patient care, including assessing patient condition and ability to cooperate.
  • Positions patients and equipment, prepares patients for procedures and continually monitors and records vital signs.
  • Observes for reactions and signs of impending complications and intervening as needed.
  • Maintains accurate records, files and billing information.
  • Ensures the integrity of patient medical images and data while adhering to Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and other patient confidentiality guidelines and regulations.
  • Prepares rooms and patients for subsequent ultrasound procedures.
  • Verifies operational status of equipment prior to daily utilization.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
