About The Position

Performs high quality diagnostic ultrasound exams, accurate operation of equipment and technical factors, producing images for the interpretation by or at the request of a licensed practitioner. This role involves performing diagnostic ultrasound procedures, managing patient records and billing, providing patient education and service, ensuring quality and safety, practicing aseptic techniques, utilizing imaging support equipment, and working with Radiologists and other licensed medical practitioners.

Requirements

• Successfully completed accredited Ultrasound Technology training from an American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS).
• Registered (or eligible for registry) as a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer.
• Certification in Physics and either OB/GYN or Abdomen within 24 months post Ultrasound education.
• Ability to learn and navigate computer systems, including online training modules, employee timesheet, and performance appraisal system.
• Must be able to read, speak, and write fluent English.
• Sitting – Approximately 25% of shift.
• Standing– Approximately 50% of shift.
• Walking – Approximately 25% of shift.
• Lifting – Approximately 35 pounds. Must use proper body mechanics and lifting/moving devices.
• Twisting – Infrequent.
• Bending – Moderate.
• Squat/Kneel – Occasionally less than 25% of shift.

Nice To Haves

• Previous experience in area of licensure is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs diagnostic ultrasound procedures, including explaining procedures to patients, positioning patients, assisting physicians with interpretation, and evaluating sonogram quality.
• Manages patient records and billing, including corroborating clinical history, documenting information, coding procedures, obtaining patient waivers, and completing paperwork.
• Provides patient education and service, including preparing patients for procedures, interviewing patients, and attending to patients' physical and psychological needs.
• Ensures quality and safety by participating in quality assessment and improvement plans, performing quality control duties and tests, reporting equipment malfunctions, and providing input on equipment decisions.
• Practices aseptic techniques and prevents cross-contamination while assisting physicians with procedures.
• Demonstrates competence in utilizing all imaging support equipment, including transducers, multi-format cameras, printers, RIS, and PACS systems.
• Works with Radiologists and other licensed medical practitioners by verifying informed consent and assisting with interventional procedures.
