Responsible for performing diagnostic sonographic examinations using high-frequency sound waves to image internal organs in the diagnosis of disease. This role requires maintaining a professional and friendly attitude, strong communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team. The technologist will be responsible for performing diagnostic ultrasound procedures according to established protocols, operating and adjusting equipment to obtain high-quality images, and preparing and positioning patients for procedures. Analysis of images and communication of findings to physicians for interpretation and diagnosis are key responsibilities. Maintaining patient records with accuracy and confidentiality is also essential. The role requires knowledge of PACS, RIS systems, and general computer skills. CPR certification, OSHA and HIPPA training are required annually. The technologist must be willing to register in all areas of ultrasound performed at RMI, including ABD, OB/GYN, Breast and Vascular registries, and stay current on continuing education. Attendance at meetings and training sessions may be required, occasionally outside of regular working hours.
