About The Position

Ultrasound Technologists perform specialized exams under the supervision of a Radiologist to diagnose, treat, and care for patients. This role involves performing various ultrasounds, assisting with biopsies, producing high-quality imaging, performing quality control, ensuring patient comfort and privacy, completing documentation, compiling statistical data, applying professional judgment, and participating in continuing education.

Requirements

  • Completed one-to-two-year Sonography or Ultrasound Technology certification at an accredited institution
  • Valid ARDMS, ARRT, RDCS, or RVT registration as required by state law
  • Current CPR/BLS certification
  • Skilled in ultrasound equipment operation
  • Basic computer literacy
  • Detail-oriented and able to work as a team member
  • Willing to participate in 30 Continuing Education Units every three years
  • Regular and predictable attendance is required
  • Regularly required to move or lift between 50-100 pounds using proper body mechanics
  • Regularly required to stand for long periods with frequent squatting, twisting, bending, kneeling, and reaching to prepare equipment, materials, or objects
  • Manual dexterity and fine motor coordination is required
  • Must be able to work in a high-stress environment
  • Must comply with HIPAA to protect information that is sensitive, proprietary, or confidential
  • Must wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as situations require to maintain infection control standards set by the facility

Responsibilities

  • Performing different types of ultrasounds ranging from OBGYN to Vascular
  • Assisting Radiologists with complicated ultrasound biopsies
  • Producing high quality films for Radiologists to evaluate; maintaining a high degree of accuracy in ultrasound imaging
  • Performing quality control functions related to ultrasound
  • Ensuring patient comfort and privacy and educating the patient regarding the exam
  • Completing documentation
  • Assisting in compiling and maintaining statistical data
  • Applying professional and ethical judgment and critical thinking
  • Participating in continuing education and learning experiences to enhance and maintain current knowledge and skills
