The Ultrasound Technologist, Vascular Lab, Per Diem position involves coordinating and managing scheduling and patient flow for interdepartmental procedures. The role includes performing diagnostic imaging studies under the supervision of a Clinical Vascular lab Attending or Fellow, assisting with the education and training of new physicians, and participating in the development of new protocols and Ultrasound imaging techniques. The technologist will also participate in research initiatives, act as a team leader, monitor the charging of procedures and supplies, and demonstrate Ultrasound equipment for site visits. Responsibilities also include providing in-service classes, obtaining and examining orders for Ultrasound scans, ensuring order appropriateness, identifying patient service requirements, verifying patient identification, obtaining consents and education, performing complex specialized tasks with Ultrasound scanners, integrating diagnostic information, maintaining quality standards, assisting with patient positioning, maintaining aseptic technique, preparing and administering contrast, assisting with diagnostic procedures, evaluating Ultrasound scans, transmitting images to PACS, scheduling patients, charging procedures and supplies, maintaining patient records, providing training to new technologists, managing patient anxieties, providing age-specific care, performing basic nursing functions, and reporting unusual findings. The role also requires adherence to hospital/department HR policies and regulatory body guidelines.
