About The Position

Join Our Team as an Ultrasound Technologist! We are seeking a skilled Ultrasound Technologist to join our healthcare team at Primary Children's Hospital. The Ultrasound Tech provides excellent customer service by performing ultrasound examinations under the direction of a physician for identification of abnormalities leading to patient diagnosis. This role will work a 7 on, 7 off schedule, from 7am-5:30pm Monday-Friday. Caregiver may be hired on at a Level I or II, depending on experience and qualifications.

Requirements

  • Registered with the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) - Successful completion of one registry pertinent to the department beyond physics (options include OB, abdominal, neuro, breast, pediatric, and vascular)
  • Health Services\BCLS - Basic life support (Certification for Healthcare Providers)
  • Must have completed a minimum of two additional years of experience relevant to the department post obtaining Ultrasound Tech I. (Primary Children’s one of the two years must be pediatric experience)
  • American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) Registry - Successful completion of one additional registry pertinent to the department beyond Ultrasound Technologist I or (SPI + 2 registries). Options include Obstetrics and Gynecology (OB/GYN), abdominal, neuro, breast, pediatric, Vascular, or Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS). (Primary Children’s one of the two registries must be pediatric)
  • Health Services\BCLS - Basic life support (Certification for Healthcare Providers)

Responsibilities

  • Maintains American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) and modality-specific competency in all clinical and technical functions.
  • Ensures proper patient identification, order verification, and prepares the patient for the exam.
  • Performs exams per department protocol and reviews images for quality, clarity, and accuracy.
  • Completes studies within acceptable time limits without compromising patient care or quality.
  • Assists and instructs students and other Radiology Techs in exam protocols, procedures, positioning, and equipment.
  • Provides appropriate patient education, ensures patient comfort, and addresses concerns.
  • Practices appropriate infection control and sterile techniques.
  • Understands and operates equipment and related information systems to ensure quality images.
  • Keeps accurate records of patient information, procedures performed, and any adverse reactions.
  • Follows protocols for medical necessity, coding, charging, consents, QC programs, and reporting equipment failures.
